About Alisa

As the daughter of a professional belly dancer, I have been utterly captivated by belly dance for as long as I can remember. As an Armenian, I grew up with the music of the region in our home. I followed my early childhood love of dance all the way through college, where I studied modern dance as well as several other ethnic dance forms on my way to earning a degree in Physical Education with a Dance Emphasis.

Today, I perform in restaurants and at private events in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area. I am privileged to dance regularly with many of the top Middle Eastern musicians in the Bay Area. I also teach regular classes for Beginning through Professional level dancers. My early fascination with this dance has never left me, and to this day I continue my studies of Middle Eastern dance, music, culture and language. I also research the history of belly dance in the United States with particular focus on Armenian contributions. My full CV is available upon request.

My dream is to share the beauty, healthful benefits and life-affirming joy of the art of belly dance with as many women as possible, through both performance and teaching.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or for more information.
